Whenever I go to expos for my races, I get so pumped knowing I will be in a building surrounded by "my people". These people GET ME. They love running as much as I do... and I'm not crazy to them, because they are just as crazy as me!
I couldn't sleep last night cause I could hear my heart beating. Yesterday put me at a loss of words, but today I feel like I want to speak my feelings. "Runners" don't just run as a form of exercise. They don't hate running.. and they sure as hell don't complain that they "STILL have to run today..uuuugh...". We incorporate running into our lifestyles. It molds us, helps us grow, helps us grieve, meditate, whatever it may be. I have runs where I could smile the whole time, jamming to my music. I also have runs where I cry and pray out loud the entire time. I'm usually hoping cars passing are assuming i'm singing to my music, even though I'm actually crying so it probably just looks a bit odd. Honestly though? I never care.. cause i'm running.. and most of the time that's the only time I feel like I can be 100% free. I know there are milllllions of people out there that share the love of running that I do. I know that most of them were in that race yesterday.
You don't just run the Boston Marathon. It's not a very casual thing to do. You have to train for it. For months.. years.. You need a specific time to even qualify for it. That means you need to have run a full marathon once before AND get that awesome time. Yesterday's runners were at that starting line at 10am.. nervous, chills, excited, wanting to pee their pants I'm sure. 4+ hours later, devastation. What kind of SICK people do this? I was at my internship and the second I heard, I ran around the hospital trying to find a TV, computer, anything to let me know what's going on. My heart sank for all of the runners, families, and people who were hurt :(. One of the dietitians I work with was actually in the race, so knowing she was already in the hotel was so good to hear (yes, she's incredibly fast).
Each day there are more deaths and more injuries being heard of. It makes my heart sink to have this happen to a group I feel so close to. Runners are family.. the 23,000+ people out there are family. We all share this desire to run like there is no tomorrow (no pun intended.. no, but really).
I feel so fortunate to be able to keep running and continue doing what I am so passionate about. I encourage ALL runners to never give up, even though I already know they won't. Runners aside, we have a strong country and we'll find these fools. Now more than ever do I feel blessed to have a soldier as my boyfriend. It makes it that much more real.
Allllright. Venting is over.
Exploring my life through running everywhere I go. Oh and also a Registered Dietitian :D

Keep on truckin'
Aylo! April 4th huh? Today is Thursday but I really don’t know why it’s not Friday or Saturday because I am SO TIRED and drained that I just want to lay in bed and watch Ellen Degeneres all day with my best friends. I really feel as if Ellen’s standups can correlate to everything that happens in my life every single
day. Nothing compares to that woman.
WORK/INTERNSHIP UPDATE: So why I am tired? Hmm. Well I do spend about 10 hours of the day at the hospital for my internship and I work my little butt and brain to the highest degree possible. That is all the complaining I will do about the internship because once again, I will say that I LOVE WHAT I DO. Each day is still a field trip where I am excited to learn more and more about different patients and the individual illnesses or complications they are going through. Love the interaction and seeing them smile. I can’t wait to become a real registered dietitian! Only a few more months!! I still can’t believe today is only Thursday though. How am I going to get through tomorrow? Mehhhh, I think I’m becoming immune to coffee :’(
CRAZY UPDATE: Jason just got his orders to where he will be stationed and myyy oh my am I (or we) in for a real treat!!! I don’t know if he wants me saying where he will be going yet, so I won’t relay it, but let’s just say it might as well be out of the country. Time will tell! I go up to visit him in Georgia for Family Day in a few weeks! Yeeee!
FREE TIME UPDATE: So I got my gel kit for my nails! No longer will I have to go to the nail place every 2 weeks and get a crappy job done that only lasts a week! Now I can get a crappy job done that lasts a week FOR FREE!! :D ha. Just kidding, but seriously. I have to work on my skillz as well as my left hand precision. How do the oriental people hold so dang still?! I’m working on it. I really want to do my friends’ nails and charge 5-10$ each time that way they don’t have to go and spend 30+$ somewhere else! If anyone is interested.. seriously.. don’t just “like” my statuses .. MESSAGE ME! I’m really not that bad. Doing someone else’s hands is like using two right hands of my own so I’m much better.
day. Nothing compares to that woman.

This happened this month too. March 13th! Yes, I'm aware there is a toilet in the background.

WORKOUT UPDATE: I’ve actually been trying to correlate different moves into my regime. Is it reSHIME or reggie-man? I don’t know. But I have been incorporating ARMS! What?! Why. I mean, I don’t really know why. The only arm exercise I ever get is going tubing which is about once a year. I don’t want huge arms but I guess I wouldn’t mind having some kind of definition in them. Not huge though, so B frey and I keep it to a minimum every Thursday. Want the work out?
3X10 Bicep curls (w/ 10 lb DB.. actually all of this is with 10 lbs)
3X15 Bench Dips (legs straight.. touch butt to ground)
3X10 lateral raises
3X10 Front raises
…lol and yep. There we have it! BOOM! Getting huge! It literally takes us about 10 minutes, but it’s fine. Better than nothing. It’s more of a bonding time anyways, which I’m fine with. I took a progress picture when I first started. I would post it but yano, I’d rather not. Okay, nevermind, I will.

Yesterday! Not even sure if I see a difference lol

Yep. We asked someone to take this for us while they were changing.
Other than this new arm thing I have going on, whenever I run, I just turn on my RunKeeper and try to squeeze as many miles as I can into 1 hour. My PR is 7.34 miles. Now, granted.. races are totally different. For some reason I turn into a cheetah when in that environment (like 9+ miles/hr) but when I’m on my own, eh, not so much. It’s hard pushing yourself when you’re only running against… yourself. And when not on a treadmill. How the heck are you supposed to know how fast you’re going? So I give myself props… and feature it on Instagram from time to time ;)

April fools was Monday and nothing happened to me, so that was cool. Last year on April fools I found out that I didn’t get about 10 internships that I applied to which was a sick joke that wasn’t a joke. I guess I’m grateful (greatful?) nothing really happened.
That’s all folks!
